Description:
- Authorized by the Navy General Order 30, August 13, 1909.
- The medal was issued to officers and enlisted men of the Navy and Marine Corps or who have been in the Navy or Marine Corps who served ashore in Cuba between the dates of 12 September 1906 and 01 April 1909.
- The officers and enlisted men of the Navy and Marine Corps or who have been in the Navy or Marine Corps who were attached to any of the following ships between the dates designated beside each name listed in Navy Department General Order No. 30 of 13 August 1909.
Background:
- The Medal
- OBVERSE
- Figure representing America, girded with a sword.
- Suspended in her left hand is an American flag.
- Her right arm is extended giving an olive branch to a Cuban.
- Background is a tropical scene.
- Arced above are the words "CUBAN PACIFICATION 1908".
- REVERSE
- The medal issued to Navy personnel displays the the words “United States Navy” the Marine Corps version displays "United States Marine Corps".
- Both versions have an a wing spread eagle perched atop a ship's anchor with chain.
- Below the anchor are the words "FOR SERVICE".
- Across the bottom appears a wreath formed by a branch of oak on the left and a branch of olive on the right with the stems joined at the bottom by a conventional knot.
- RIBBON
The ribbon is 1 3/8 inches in width. It is composed of the following vertical stripes: 1/8 inch Old Glory Red 67156; 1/8 inch White 67101; 1/8 inch Ultramarine Blue 67118; 5/8 inch Olive Drab 67133; 1/8 inch Ultramarine Blue; 1/8 inch White; and 1/8 inch Old Glory Red - DEVICE(s)
