Description:

  1. Authorized by NOAA Corps Regulations NCB 3-93 Section12607 B
  2. Eligibility Requirements - An individual award granted by the Under Secretary for
    Oceans and Atmosphere in recognition of significant contributions to NOAA programs.
    Areas in which significant contributions to NOAA programs will be considered for an
    Administrator's Award include: Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), program
    management, scientific research, public service, engineering development, environmental
    conservation, policy development, administrative support, public affairs, and information
    systems.
  3. Issuance and Manner of Wear
    1. Appropriate service record entries will be made at CPC after receipt of proper
      documentation.
    2. NOAA presents a plaque. CPC provides a certificate, a large medal, miniature
      medal, and ribbon bars.
    3.  Attachments to Medals and Ribbon Bars
      1. A 5/16-inch gold-colored star worn on the large medal suspension ribbon
        and ribbon bar denotes each subsequent award.
      2. A 1/8-inch gold-colored star worn on the miniature medal suspension
        ribbon denotes each subsequent award.

Background:

  1. The NOAA Administrator's Award Medal is made of red brass with a matte finish.
  2. The medal is 32 millimetres (1.3 in) in diameter. It hangs from a ring suspension.
  3. The ribbon is 35 millimetres (1.4 in) wide primarily of forget-me-not blue. The edges are 8 millimetres (0.31 in) wide ultramarine blue, bisected by a white stripe of 1.6 millimetres (0.063 in).
  4. Subsequent awards are denoted by 5/16 inch gold award stars on large medals.
  5. Subsequent awards are denoted by 1/8-inch gold-colored star worn on the miniature medal suspension
    ribbon. 

Description

  1. Obverse
    On a bronze colored disc, 1 13/32 inches (3.57 cm) in diameter bearing the raised relief symbol of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
  2. Reverse
    The reverse is flat and suitable for engraving..
  3. Ribbon
    The ribbon measures 1 3/8" and is laid out with 3/32" Ultramarine Blue, 1/16" White, 1/8" Ultramarine Blue, 3/4" Forget -me-not (light blue), 1/8" Ultramarine Blue, 1/16" White, 3/32" Ultramarine Blue
