Description:
- The Secretary of Transportation Outstanding Unit Award was established as a Coast Guard Unit Award by ALCOAST 101/94.
- This award is the unit equivalent of the Secretary of Transportation Gold Medal for Outstanding Achievement.
- In order to provide members of the Coast Guard with a device denoting this award, the Secretary of Transportation Outstanding Unit Award was created. This award consists of the ribbon only to the Secretary of Transportation Gold Medal, mounted in a gold frame.
- The Secretary of Transportation Outstanding Unit Award is worn after the Joint Meritorious Unit Award and before the Coast Guard Unit Commendation.
- Subsequent Awards. A 5/16-inch gold star denotes each subsequent award. A 5/16-inch silver star isworn in lieu of five gold stars (represents the sixth award).
