Description:
- Established by the Secretary of the Navy, February 19, 1939.
- Awarded to Service members of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve who, subsequent to July 1, 1925, have fulfilled certain designated military service requirements within any 4-year period of service in the Selected Marine Corps Reserve. On January 1, 1996, the requirements changed to 3-year period of service.
- A bronze star is worn on the suspension and service ribbon to denote subsequent awards.
