Description:
- The award is authorized for active duty personnel based on an aggregate of 4 years of honorable active federal military service with any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces or Reserve components. Reserve Component members are credited with the award for each 4 years of satisfactory military service creditable to a reservist for retirement.
- On 16 November 2020, the Secretary of the Air Force approved the renaming of the Air Force Longevity Service Award to the Air and Space Longevity Service Award.
- Eligible categories include:
- Members of the Space Force and all members of the Air Force on active duty.
- Members of the Reserve Components not on active duty assigned to training category A, B, D, or H.
- A member who is a cadet or midshipman in one of the service academies provided the member graduates.
- Members of the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences.
- Eligibility for the award was expanded on 1 July 1976 to include members of the Reserve components.
- An oak leaf cluster is worn for each additional 4 years of creditable service.
