Description:
- On 4 September 2014, the Secretary of the Air Force authorized the authorized this ribbon.
- On 16 November 2020, the Secretary of the Air Force approved the renaming of the Air Force Special Duty Ribbon to the Developmental Special Duty Ribbon.
- It is awarded to all service members who are awarded a special duty Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) or a special duty identifier, and successfully complete a developmental special duty assignment (includes consecutive assignments). Qualifying special duty assignments are: T –prefix Training Instructor in core AFSC (officer and enlisted)
- 80C0 (Commander, Cadet Squadron, USAFA)
- 81C0 (Training Commander, OTS)
- 81T0 (Instructor)
- 82A0 (Academic Program Manager)
- Refer to DAFI 36-2110 for a list of enlisted developmental special duties.
- Under no condition will a member be awarded a DSDR and an Air Force Recruiting Ribbon or Air Force Basic Military Training Instructor Ribbon for the same special duty assignment.
- The ribbon is ultramarine blue divided by four equal stripes of turquoise. Bronze and silver (to represent five bronze) oak-leaf clusters are worn on the ribbon to indicate subsequent awards of the Air Force Special Duty Ribbon
- Oak Leaf Cluster is awarded for successful completion of additional or consecutive special duty assignments.
