Description:

Established by the Secretary of the Navy, February 19, 1939.
Awarded to Service members of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve who, subsequent to July 1, 1925, have fulfilled certain designated military service requirements within any 4-year period of service in the Selected Marine Corps Reserve. On January 1, 1996, the requirements changed to 3-year period of service.
A bronze star is worn on the suspension and service ribbon to denote subsequent awards.
